Delicious Table in Buena Park|Why I Keep Going Back for Banchan

Delicious Table is a restaurant I used to visit with friends from my church’s young adult group before I got married.
After I got married, more restaurants opened nearby and we had plenty of places closer to home, so I naturally stopped going. I think I almost forgot about it for close to 10 years.
Then gamjatang brought me back after a very long time.
At some point, the gamjatang we usually bought near home did not taste as good to us as it used to, so while looking for another place, Delicious Table came to mind.
But when I went to pick up gamjatang, I noticed something I was not expecting.
I had already ordered a gamjatang that cost over $20, but then I noticed a separate $13 gamjatang for sale in the store.
I was curious enough that I ended up bringing both home.

I Went for Gamjatang Takeout and Found a $13 Option
When I first went back a few years ago, I remember the gamjatang on the restaurant menu costing more than $20.
That day, I brought home both the gamjatang I had already ordered and the $13 one sold in the store, and we tried them side by side.
Of course, the restaurant-menu gamjatang comes with rice and side dishes, so it is not a simple price-to-price comparison.
By the way the amount of gamjatang itself felt almost the same, and when we ate them, we did not notice a major difference in taste or quality.
Since we already have rice and side dishes at home, buying just the gamjatang works better for us.
That was how it started.
After that, whenever we wanted gamjatang, I started buying it to have at home, and each visit gradually turned into picking up another soup or side dish too.

What I Often Buy at Delicious Table in Buena Park
The item we still buy most often for our family is gamjatang.
When I bought it in September 2026, one container was $13I spent prepping the night before.

Sometimes I buy two containers at a time. My husband and I can have it for dinner and take it for lunch the next day, so it is easy for us to use across several meals.
The one my kids eat well is ugeoji galbitang. This was $13 this time as well.
That evening, all three kids had the ugeoji galbitang, and there was still a generous amount left after one meal.

And one of my favorites is seasoned cockles.
Seasoned cockles are not always available when I go, so I tend to buy them when I see them. This time they were $10.
I should have taken a photo before eating, but I forgot and my husband and I started eating first.
We put the seasoned cockles over warm rice with a little sesame oil, and it was really good. Even after the two of us ate, there was enough left for another meal or two.

This Time I Spent $49 in Total
These are the four items I brought home this time.
| What I bought | Price |
|---|---|
| Gamjatang × 2 | $26 |
| ugeoji galbitang | $13 |
| seasoned cockles | $10 |
| Total | $49 |
Prices are based on what I personally paid in September 2026 and may change later.
That does not mean we eat all of it at once.
That evening, my husband and I had rice with seasoned cockles, while the kids had ugeoji galbitang.
The next day, since it had been a while since we had gamjatang, I packed a little extra in both my lunch and my husband’s.

Even after that, one full container of gamjatang was still left, along with some ugeoji galbitang and seasoned cockles.
Rather than eating everything we buy at once, we spread it out between our home-cooked meals.
When I have time, I sometimes do Hamburg steak meal prep, making a big batch and portioning it out. On busy days, I buy prepared soups and side dishes like these.
As the kids get older and eat more, and with lunches to pack for my husband and me, mixing homemade meals with prepared dishes works better for our family than making something new for every meal.
It also lets us enjoy foods like gamjatang or seasoned cockles that I do not make often at home.
Next Time I Want to Try the Seolleongtang Broth
On this visit, I found out that they also sell seolleongtang broth separatelyI found out.
The price I was told was $5 for one or $20 for fiveI spent prepping the night before.
They told me the broth is simmered until rich, so I plan to try it next time. I have not tasted it myself yet, but if I like it, I may use it for dishes that need a broth base, such as mandu-guk or miyeok-guk.
After I try it myself, I plan to come back and write about it.
If You Want a Specific Item, Call First
There is one tip I picked up after shopping here a few times.
If there is a specific item you want, it is a good idea to call and check before you go.
Some side dishes, like the seasoned cockles, are not available every time.
When I called ahead for gamjatang, they had the potatoes and vegetables ready, so I was able to pick it up without a long wait when I arrived.

Why I Keep Going Back for Banchan
Before I got married, this was a restaurant where I went to eat with friends. I returned almost 10 years later because of the gamjatang, and now it has become a place I visit from time to time for banchan.
As the kids get older and eat more, and with lunches to prepare for my husband and me, making every part of every meal from scratch is not easy.
I cook some meals myself, and on busy days I pull out a soup or side dish I bought. Right now, that is the most realistic approach for our family.
Next time, I plan to try the seolleongtang broth, and if the seasoned cockles are there, I probably will not be able to pass them up.
Even when I cannot make every meal from scratch, this is another record from The Lovely 셋 of finding a way to keep home-cooked meals going in a way that works for our family.
