My 17-Minute ALDI Grocery Haul: 18 Items for $51.30

Stopping for groceries after work can make an already long weekday feel even longer.

Once I get home, there’s dinner to make and kids to take care of, so when my schedule allows, I sometimes use my lunch break to get the grocery shopping done early.

Today was one of those days, so I squeezed in a quick ALDI run during lunch.

From walking into the store to finishing checkout, the whole trip took just 17 minutes.

I’m not someone who maps out every meal for the entire week. I usually go in with a few meal ideas and look for ingredients that work with what we already have at home.

Today’s ALDI grocery haul: 18 items for $51.30.

Here’s what made it into my cart—and how I planned a quick grocery run around meals our family will actually eat.

A 17-minute ALDI grocery haul: 18 items for $51.30.

I Started with a Few Meal Ideas

The first meal on my mind was Korean-Style Hamburger Steak.

I picked up ground beef and ground pork so I can make a bigger batch and freeze the extras. One batch usually stretches into two or three meals for us, which makes the next few dinners much easier.

Tuna sandwiches were also on my list of meal ideas.

We already had canned tuna at home, so all I needed was lettuce andmultigrain bread.

We use the same multigrain bread for tuna sandwiches and for the avocado egg toast my husband andI often make for breakfast.

So a few avocados went into the cart too.

Meal IdeaWhat I Bought
Korean-Style Hamburger SteakGround beef, ground pork
Tuna SandwichesLettuce, multigrain bread
Avocado ToastAvocado, multigrain bread

I’ve found that I don’t need a perfectly planned weekly menu. Just having two or three meals in mind gives me enough direction to shop without overthinking it.

Before Buying More, I Check What We Already Have

At ALDI, I naturally notice the staples we buy all the time.

Green onions are one of them, but we still had some stored in a vacuum container at home, so I passed this time.

We still had peeled garlic too, and since there was already canned tuna in the pantry, I didn’t need to buy that again either.

My grocery lists aren’t very detailed, but I do try to check what’s already in the fridge, freezer, and pantry before I shop.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends doing the same—checking your refrigerator, freezer, and pantry before shopping and buying only what you need to help reduce food waste.

That’s pretty much our approach: use what we have first, then restock what weactually need.

The ALDI Groceries We Keep Buying Again

Except for the cantaloupe, everything in today’s cart was something we had bought before and wanted to buy again.

I picked up yogurt and blueberries for breakfast and snacks, plus Little Journey Yogurt Bites becauseour youngest likes them.

And tilapia made it into the cart again—just two weeks after our last pack.

We bought a family pack two weeks ago, and somehow it was already gone.

Last time, I used it to make dinner for the kids while prepping lunch for my husband and me at the same time.

Avocados and multigrain bread are two more things that regularly end up back in our cart.

We use them for avocado toast, and the same bread works for tuna sandwiches, so they’re easy to use across more than one meal.

Looking at the cart, I realized this wasn’t really about trying a bunch of new ALDI finds. It was mostly about restocking the foods our family actually eats.

I shared more of the ALDI groceries our family buys againin a previous grocery haul.

I Finally Found the ALDI Banana Nut Muffins Again

There was one thing I was especially happy to see back on the shelf.

Banana nut muffins.

My kids love these, and a pack never lasts long in our house. But for about a month, they had been out of stock every time I went.

Today, there were exactly two packs left.

So both of them came home with me.

According to today’s receipt, a four-count pack was $3.89.

I like them because they’re soft without being overly sweet. During warmer weather, I keep them in the fridge and microwave one for just 10–15 seconds before eating. It softens right back up.

The cantaloupe was the only thing in today’s haul that we hadn’t tried before.

$1.49— the sale price that convinced me to give it a try.

We haven’t eaten it yet, so I’ll save my opinion until we actually try it.

Prices are based on my ALDI store visit and receipt from August 31, 2026. Prices and availability may vary by store and date.

3 Things That Help Me Shop Faster at ALDI

There’s no complicated system behind the way I grocery shop.

I usually keep just three things in mind.

1. Go in with two or three meal ideas
I don’t try to plan an entire week of meals.

2. Check what’s already at home
We already had green onions, peeled garlic, and canned tuna, so none of those needed to go into the cart.

3. Choose ingredients I can use in more than one meal
The multigrain bread works for both avocado toast and tuna sandwiches, and I’ll make a larger batch of Korean-style hamburger steak so I can freeze the extras for another two or three meals.

Grocery shopping during lunch doesn’t suddenly give me hours of extra time.

But it does take one errand off my after-work list.

On a busy weekday, that small head start can make the evening feel a little more manageable.

Less time. Less waste. More of what works.
